How to Avoid the Most Common Twitter Marketing Mistakes
Twitter has given marketers a new way to easily communicate with their target audience. If you are going to use Twitter for marketing, however, be sure to not make the errors we’ll be talking about below.
Marketing on Twitter is not different from any other type of marketing. You need to handle it in the same manner and with the same professionalism. Too many marketers commit the Twitter blunder where they make all their communications about themselves and they forget about the people they’re trying to target. It’s a fact that nobody cares all about your product’s details. People don’t have the patience to listen to a list of all the specifics. If you just show that you’re important, people will be turned off. People only want to hear what your product can do and what it can do for them. You have to lay it all out for them so that they understand what you’re saying. You may have the perfect product that does everything, but if the prospect doesn’t know what it will do for him, he’ll pass it up. The whole purpose of you being on Twitter is to sell more, attain more leads and make your business expand. Now unless you are humble enough, there’s no way other Twitterers are going to be convinced by you. Remember, Twitter is a thriving community where people value people, which leads to better relationships. This is why you have to be one amongst them and talk about how the product can help them, not how many sales you want. Don’t just go on about what the product’s all about, and instead you should just bring it up in natural conversation. Don’t just start sending out marketing links to your followers in droves. If you want to recommend them a certain product, first warm them up about it. You can effectively do this by offering up some advice that doesn’t cost anything, and then hit them with the promotional offer. If your offer has to do with getting rid of acne, then you should first offer some advice on acne and why one should rid themselves of it. A good way to do this is to let them know that there are other things they can try, but that these things are ineffective and useless. Your first order of business is to make them believe that only your product can do the job, and that it’s a pertinent matter that the issue get taken care of right away. If you can explain it that way, a link will be well accepted, but if you just throw the link at the person without first approaching them, then you’ll fail. You have to avoid looking like a salesman but more like a friend who recommends something with the true intention to help.
Don’t commit the other common Twitter mistake which is to use the incorrect language. Using foul language will only cause your followers to repel from you. Keep in mind that it’s all about appearing professional and conveying an image that you’re someone they can do business with. Using swearwords or cussing will only bring down your reputation and affect it bad.
Basically, Twitter can give you the success you want, but you need to avoid the mistakes you just learned about.
